Romans 5:8 (NIV)
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
The cross is the center of everything. Not a symbol. Not a piece of jewelry. The actual moment when God became man, took on every sin ever committed, and paid a price He didn't owe so we could have a life we didn't earn.
In volleyball, the best plays are the ones where someone sacrifices their body for the team — the dive, the block, the set that costs you. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. Not for a team that deserved it. For people who were still walking away from Him.
You don't have to earn the cross. You just have to receive it. That's the whole gospel.
Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for dying for me while I was still a sinner. Help me to never get over what You did for me. Amen.
I block the lie that I have to earn God's love. Jesus died for me while I was still a sinner — the cross is proof that His love is unconditional.
1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."
What does the cross mean to you personally — not just theologically, but in your daily life?
How does knowing Jesus died for you while you were still a sinner change how you see yourself?
