Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
The most dangerous player on any team isn't the most talented — it's the most humble. Humble players are coachable. They receive correction without shutting down. They celebrate others' success without jealousy. They make everyone around them better.
Pride is the enemy of growth. It tells you that you already know enough, that you don't need correction, that your way is the right way. Humility says: I have more to learn. I need my team. I need God.
Jesus — the Son of God — washed His disciples' feet. If He could get low, so can you.
Lord, give me a humble heart. Help me to value others above myself and to receive correction without defensiveness. Amen.
I block the lie that humility is weakness. Humility is the foundation of greatness — and I choose to value others above myself.
James 4:10 (NIV)
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."
Where does pride show up most in your life — on the court, at home, with friends?
What would it look like to genuinely value someone else above yourself this week?
